  • Jeff Tiessen, Executive Producer

    Double-arm amputee and three-time Paralympian and world record holder, Jeff Tiessen is founder and president of Disability Today Publishing Group. As a book and magazine publisher, Jeff’s work focuses on providing kids with special needs with tools and ideas for healthy, active living. As executive producer of the Disability Today Network, he has created a one-of-its-kind online information village for the greater disability community. An award-winning journalist and recent inductee into the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame, Jeff is a respected advocate and highly sought-after public speaker.His signature presentation - “Small Victories” - sensitively encourages others to carefully consider what success means to them individually. Above and beyond his compelling story of overcoming personal injury and his achievements as a decorated elite athlete and prominent publisher, Tiessen speaks candidly and humorously about the small victories in his life that truly define this double-arm amputee’s formula for success.

    Author, editor and administrator, Brenda has been a key contributor to Disability Today Publishing Group, Inc. since its inception in 1991. As Content Manager for the Disability Today Network, Brenda delights in sourcing and sharing relevant and engaging news, photos, videos and resources for the disability community.

  • Layla Guse Salah, Social Media Manager

    Born with cerebral palsy, Layla Guse Salah is a writer, public speaker and advocate for people with disabilities. With a strong voice for advocacy, she’s unafraid to share her opinions even if doing so might ruffle some feathers.

    A certified educator with the Ontario College of Teachers, Layla is a voracious reader and passionate writer with a mission to change the tone of dialogue and public perception surrounding issues within the disability community. She challenges attitudes surrounding public awareness of disability. As a child and an adolescent, Layla served as spokesperson for Holland Bloorview Kids Rehab in Toronto.

    Being a wheelchair user has not stopped Layla from seeking out adventures. She rode horses from the age of three into her teen years, and obtained a green belt in self-defense as a teenager as well. She has tried her hand at mono-skiing, skating, kayaking, tandem biking and even mountain hiking in British Columbia. As the Social Media Coordinator for the Disability Today Network, Layla is very interested in sharing your thoughts with our network of visitors, fans and followers too.

  • Kimberley Barreda, Web Developer

    Kimberley Barreda is an avid skier, sports program director, charity volunteer, and well established name in the disability community. How to use

Use a shortcode to display your widget anywhere on your website

Start in the editor

Start in the editor

To get started, click on the Widgetkit button in your CMS edit view. You will be directed to an overview of already existing widgets, hit the New button. Now choose the widget you would like to render, for example Grid and the content type. Afterwards hit Create to proceed to the next step.

To create your content, you can add single content items by using Add Item. Alternatively you can use Add Media to select multiple items at once through the media library or manager of your CMS. Enter a name for your widget and go to the Settings tab to configure your widget, then hit Save.

After saving, hit the Cancel button to get back to the widget overview. Click on your newly created widget and a shortcode containing the widget's ID and name will be inserted in the editor. To edit the widget, click inside the shortcode and hit the Widgetkit button again.
